In atttempt to revive interest in the franchise, Nintendo pulled out all the stops to make their 2004 Ex Fire Red Leaf Green series a hit - they returned focus to the original Generation 1 Pokemon with pack artworks featuring heavyweights Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur and Pikachu. This set also marks the release of the first Charizard EX card, which is another highlight for longtime fans of the game. The set contains a total of 116 cards and seven different levels of design/rarity including Holographic, Rare (Non-holographic), Uncommon, Common, EX cards (Rare), Secret Box topper and Secret Rare EX. In addition, a Reverse Holographic card was produced for all but EX, Secret Box Topper and Secret Rare cards, giving plenty of potential for diversity within the nine-card booster pack.
